CashForecaster App Reviews

14 Customer Reviews:

I have been using the old version that needed Rosetta and was more than happy to read about the new version. It does what it should: Collecting future money movements including recurring items. Very simple and slick. The graph looks ugly for mac users but it gives you what you need for your cash flow planning. Each calculation is saved in a new file - you can have one for your personal accounts and one for your small business- or for different scenarios. Yes, you could do it with excel. But 1. Excel is from Microsoft and 2. Recurring items are not easy to implement. Features wish list: 1. Link to banking software 2. Add categories and Budgets 3. Add subitems

Ive been searching for a simple solution like this to replace cashflow tracking on a spreadsheet. This app is great for it, just needs some polish and shine to it and a few minor feature add ons and it will be an outstanding app. Have emailed the developers on a few points and with some suggestions and am waiting to hear back. One note is to enter negative numbers you have to do it with ( ). IE -50 should be entered as (50) which is a pain. Update #2: Day after ammending my review I heard back from the developer, so am re-adjusting the star rating to 3 at this point. Still need to hear back on my actual concerns, but its progress. Update: After 14 days I have not received any response from the developer on some issues and concerns I had with the app.. its a neat app, but with no support I would not recommend purchasing it. Hopefully the developer improves their support and response to paying customers and the app grows and gets better, but for now, keep your money in your wallet.

Not a budgeting program, but a forecasting program: if you have $thismuchmoney now, and you expect a certain set of incomes and expenses, what will you have six months from now? eight months? a year and a half? It handles both one-time and repeating incomes and expenses well (including unusual intervals like "every 75 days"). You can easily create multiple scenarios and compare them. No other Mac program I can find does this nearly so well (and Ive looked hard). And all for a tiny price. Sure, the interface coud be better, but this is nonetheless a really useful utility.

Its very raw and basic, but easy to work with. It forecasts balances into the future. I was able to see my future balance in just 15 minutes of input of information (bills and income).

Current version wont accept negative numbers and so you cant actually enter any expenses. The old free version 0.6 worked - how did this problem not come up in testing? If it was actually capable of managing both income and expenses, it looks like exactly the app Id want.

I am negative on the lack of negatives

CashForecaster does not accept negative numbers. Everything is treated as income.

Negative numbers can be entered, it just requires the value to be entered in parentheses like (50.00) for example. I agree this could be a little more forgiving or at least the app should give a clue as to the correct format. Still I find the software to be worth a couple of dollars. With some more refining this could be a good application. Im going to keep it.

You just put a negative number in front of the expenses, say -$100. How complex is that? Sheesh, theres even text next to the field saying "positive for revenue; negative for expense".

After years of keeping the windows version of quicken running on paralels desktop solely for the purpose of forecasting out my various bank balances, I have finally found the tool that does exactly what I need - goodby quicken for windows...

As a freelancer without a regular paycheck, I needed a quick way to get a visual forecast of my cash flow. This was exactly what I was looking for. Its a small program, and probably doesnt do anything you couldnt program an excel worksheet to handle, but it saved me the time of figuring out messy graph formulas, so I consider it $1.99 well spent. A couple small criticisms - would like to be able to look at the graph in a little bit more detail, so I can even look at where Im at week-by-week. Would also like to be able to make numbers negative by inserting a dash in the Revenue/Expense table for entries that I forget to click the Rev/Exp button on. Speaking of the Rev/Exp button, it might be more intuitive for input as a radio button.

Ok for the price

Not very complete. It lacks the flexibility of adding bi-weekly payroll for example.

This app was exactly what I was looking for. I need to be able to forecast out the balance of the checking account that I use to pay all of my bills, and this app does that perfectly. I’m able to make better financial decisions and ensure that my balance never hits zero. Love it!

Purchased this product just now. Went to add my salary that I receive every other week and found it had no “Every Two Weeks" frequency. I can’t say I hate or don’t like this product. I just can’t use it in it’s current state.

I’ve got two checking accounts that I need to track but this app only handles one at a time so it’s useless to me. As for the people who say you can’t do biweekly payroll, all you do is choose weekly then every 2 weeks, it’s like they don’t even try…...
